Rokuro Pass

From Daimon, Nyonin-michi (Women’s Path) continues to lead pilgrims to Entsurituji Temple and Nakano-hashi. After passing through dark forests, one has to climb up the steep hills. Along the path, one can command a splendid panoramic view of mountains towards the Pacific Ocean. The view of the mountain from one particular point was so eagerly awaited that it earned the sobriquet “Rokuro-toge” (literally: Long Neck Peak: stretching one’s neck in Japanese indicates looking forward to something).
