It is said that there are 7 Benten deities enshrined in Koyasan. Kukai, the founder of Koyasan, is said to have enshrined them to protect the source of water in Koyasan. In late April, the cherry blossoms are in full bloom in Koyasan and one of the Benten shrines called “Haraikawa Benten” is covered with cherry blossoms. In front of the shrine, there is a pond. The pond is very much like Monet’s Water-Lily Pond and so beautiful. It’s a pity you cannot travel to Koyasan this year due to the coronavirus, but please visit this beautiful pond and see with your own eyes after this pandemic ends.
