We took a drive to Kozagawa river in Kumano area to see Kumano-zakura (Kumano cherry) in full bloom. Kumano-zakura is one of the early blooming type of sakura trees. It was recognized as the new type of wild cherry tree native to southern part of the Kii Peninsula in 2018. It has became the 10th wild cherry tree that has ever been found in Japan. Japan will be surrounded with cherry blossoms in 10days or so. The festive mood will cover all over Japan.
