Kozagawa River

The clear stream, Kozagawa River, is located in the southern part of Wakayama Prefecture. It runs for some 60 km from Mount Otozan (大塔山)in the center of the Kumano Region to the sea of Kumano. Along the river you will encounter magnificent scenic spots.

This bridge has no railings. Water runs over the bridge to protect it from drifting trees and others when water level increases over the bridge.  The bridge gets submerged in case of flood. That’s why this bridge is called Sensui (Submarine) bridge.

Sensui (Submarine) bridge

This waterfall is located in the middle section of Kogawa River, tributary of Kozagawa River.

Nakatsuya-no-taki (Waterfall)

This huge 100 meters high and 500 meters wide monolith towers at the side of the Kozagawa River. This massive rock was created by intense volcanic activity.
