Nanohana is in full bloom in Wakayama now and people in Japan often see it as the sign of spring.
After the long cold winter, spring has finally come in Japan!!
Do you know the vegetable called nappa (nappa cabbage)?
It is not only grown and sold in Japan but all over the world by the Japanese name, nappa. We use it for all kinds of Japanese dishes including nabe hot pot.
The flower of nappa (nanohana in Japanese) is brilliant yellow in color and we actually eat the flower itself as well. It’s taste is a bit bitter but really the taste of spring!
Peach blossoms will join nanohana soon.
