Café newly opened!
In the Sainan-in Temple near Daimon (Great Gate) at the western edge of Koyasan, a café was finally opened to visitors on September 15, 2017. Visitors can choose a drink from the menu that offers 11 different drinks (¥500 each). New drinks will be added to the menu in the near future. So far, Matcha (Green Tea) Latte has been the most favored drink, says the chief priest of the Sainan-in Temple.
The drinks are served in a cup to go so that visitors can sit on any of the wooden chairs lined up against the wall of the corridor facing the splendid rock garden of the temple. In the garden, you can see a Kyozo (scripture repository) donated by Ieyasu Tokugawa, the founder of Tokugawa Shogunate of the Edo period (1603~1868). The Sainan-in café is open daily from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m..
Why don’t you spend a nice and quiet time viewing the beautiful garden while enjoying a delicious drink?
